We would love to invite you to join us for one of our church services! We know that getting to know new people and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. Therefore, we want to make sure that your first visit to Pitt Town Church is a really enjoyable and comfortable one. Every week at Pitt Town Church, we spend time together, hear from the God’s word through Bible-centered sermons, sing together, and pray together.
Our vision is to see people compelled by Christ's love to follow Him and help others follow Him guided by the Bible.
Visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating. Here are some answers to your questions to help ease any worries you might have...
In total, a meeting at Pitt Town Church is about 60-75 minutes in length. Meetings generally begin with the Pitt Town music ministry team leading the church in song - song lyrics are projected onto the screens or engage with praise however you feel most comfortable. We also hear the word of God spoken through one of our Ministers, who encourages and challenges us in our walk with God. To finish, we normally sing again and pray together, before heading out and enjoying food and fellowship together.
We understand that coming to church for the first time can be nerve racking, especially when you don't know what to expect. Further, sometimes church is portrayed as a place where only good 'religious' people go. We want to break this stereotype, because it is simply not true. Jesus himself said that he has come to help those who are not perfect.
At Pitt Town, we are a church of broken people gathering around and learning from our Saviour Jesus. It doesn't matter who you are, or what you have done we would love to have you in our Church Family.
Here at Pitt Town we love having Children join us in all meetings. Jesus said "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them" (Matthew 19:14). However, our 10:00am meeting is particularly family friendly, including kids Groups that run throughout the service. If you have Children, they are very welcome to join us!
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Here at Pitt Town, we are casual in the way we do things. We are not particularly formal, ceremonial, or official; we are casual. Now, this doesn't mean we are not planned; in fact, we are very planned and intentional. We will always take God seriously. However, we don't take ourselves too seriously.
Here at Pitt Town, we love to have fun! If we can make things fun, we will do that. Of course, not everything needs to be fun, but when it’s appropriate, we will make things fun. The reason we like to make things fun is because we are really serious about joy; rejoicing and laughter is our baseline. We think it's not only appropriate, but it's healthy.
Here at Pitt Town Church, we want to remember that we have hope. The apostle Paul in the Bible often talks about faith, hope, and love. We are a church that loves to have fun and laugh. However, we know that sometimes life hits us hard, and it's just not fun, and there isn't any reason to laugh. That is why one of our core values is hope. Hope is expectant patience; it looks to the future. And so Pitt Town is a church that honors the past but faces the future. This means our best days are not behind us, instead, we walk bolding into the future that God has for us.
Here at Pitt Town Church we are not afraid of the truth. As a church we aim to be as transparent as possible. Whatever the situation, we want to confront the truth, even if its means confronting brutal facts. We think bad news is good news, because the sooner you know, the sooner you can do something about it.
Here at Pitt Town Church, we always want to do the best we can. If we are cleaning up, we want to do the best job possible. If we are running an event, we want to do the best job possible. We want to do this for two main reasons. Number one, we want to pursue excellence because we love God. We believe that everything we do, we are doing for God. And number two, we want to pursue excellence because we love people. We call it ‘Undistracting Excellence’ because we want to pursue excellence but not so it is distracting for everyone that comes, but to serve God and to serve people.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God and should be the supreme and final authority in our lives [2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21].
We believe in one God who exists and reveals himself in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit [Deuteronomy 6:4, 2 Corinthians 13:4, Matthew 28:19].
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was raised from the dead and is at the right hand of the Father as true God & true Man [Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 9:5, Hebrews 12:2].
We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting them repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that all mankind was created in the image of God. But all have fallen, are guilty and subject to His wrath and condemnation. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin is found only through the sacrificial death of Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, who died as our representative and substitute [Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23; 5:1; 6:23. Ephesians 1:7].
We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ and the subsequent bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. The saved to everlasting joy and the lost to everlasting punishment [Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:4-6].
We believe that the church is comprised of those who acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Saviour and that Scripture instructs believers to identify and regularly assemble with other believers to devote themselves to prayer, teaching of the Bible, fellowship and works of service [Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:42-47, 16:5].
Understanding who Jesus Christ is and what He has done is a life changing event for everyone. This is because it relates to the decision that we have to make to either listen to God or ignore Him and His word.
But who is Jesus? What sort of man is He?
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was raised from the dead and is at the right hand of the Father as true God and true Man.
[Matthew 1:18-25, Romans 9:5, Hebrews 12:2]
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” [Colossians 1:15]
At Pitt Town Church we believe that Jesus' death and resurrection gives us the opportunity to be in a relationship with God. On the cross Jesus paid the price for our sin so that we could come to know our God.
